Google is Cracking the Whip on Suspected Adwords Users

Google's new set of Adwords standards have some PPC companies scrambling desperately.

Google is kicking butt and taking names. They have recently rolled out a new set of compliance standards for third party Adwords advertisers. The search engine giant is now cracking down on agencies claiming to offer discounted pricing as well as "insider information" from the company. They have also rolled out specific instructions for how Adwords metrics must be reported -- and penalties will be imposed on businesses that ignore the search engine.

Under the new terms, businesses that offer Adwords management as a service will have to provide monthly metrics on cost, clicks, and impressions. They will also expect companies to educate their small business clients by offering them a “Google disclosure statement.”

This news will no doubt scare a large percentage of search marketers and ppc’ers. Here at Silverback Strategies our response is easy: it’s about time. Unfortunately, it’s common practice for many search agencies to take advantage of the system, reaping small rewards for their clients and big rewards for themselves. Not here. At Silverback, we have been practicing transparency in all manners of our business and client relations for as long as we’ve been around. And that is what we will continue to do. We believe that a lack of transparency reveals a fear of accountability. We will stand by our work 100 percent of the time, by showing our clients exactly where they stand and then do everything within our power to help our clients grow their businesses. Simply, we’re glad Google has finally decided to see it our way.

Ben Franklin said, “He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else” – and he was right. Accountability and transparency are everything. Before signing the papers with your search agency, make sure they are going to provide you with regular, detailed metric reports of your account. It is important for you to know how your account is performing, whether it's good or not up to par. Either way, the full transparent truth is what will allow you to make the decisions to reach all of your goals.
